Group types

Base forecast Prevailing conditions for the entire valid period.

From Conditions change abruptly and completely at this time.

Temporarily Conditions expected for less than half of the indicated period, each occurrence lasting less than 1 hour.

Becoming Gradual change — conditions transition over the indicated period. After the period, new conditions persist.

30% probability 30–39% probability these conditions occur. Not used for thunderstorms or low IFR by NWS convention.

40% probability 40–49% probability these conditions occur.
